District Cub Cross Country Competition

Date: 2nd May 2023 Author: Susan Dobson

On Monday 27 March, the annual District Cub Cross Country Competition took place. There were many children and competitors from the local Cub groups, including Warlingham, Chaldon, 5th and 12th.

On arrival the children were split into two groups – under 9 ½ and over 9 ½. The children all gathered and when the whistle blew for the first group the children raced off around the field for one lap. It was James T who came in an impressive 2nd place for Chaldon Cubs.

Then it was time for the over 9 ½ race. The older children ran a little bit further and I came 7th for Chaldon Cubs. Everyone ran really well.

Finally, it was time for the results to be announced. All the children gathered around the table to see who the winners were. In the first race, Chaldon finished 3rd overall, in the second race, Chaldon finished 2nd overall, but for the overall grand prize, Chaldon came first!! The children and parents all cheered and clapped and we had our photos taken at the end with the winner’s trophy.
