On Sunday 26 February, we were invited to join the team at Nower Wood Surrey Wildlife Trust for Action for Nature event for uniform groups.

We all had an amazing time learning about nature and the wildlife, and how we can help in our environments at home or at our headquarters.

In the morning, the Scouts decorated blue hearts to place in an area not to be mowed, so the wildlife flowers could grow and encourage the insects. including butterflies and bees. Afterwards, they went mini beast hunting and found a few creepy crawlies, made solitary bee homes for the trust to put up, and finally went pond dipping and looked at some of the mini beasts found in the pond under a microscope.

In the afternoon, they went off to complete some conservation work with the trust.  They worked so hard and managed to clear the overgrown holly bushes, which made a clear pathway to allow the trust to monitor the birds and bats.
