Everyone was extremely excited this month for the reptile experience held for both Beavers and Cubs. Everyone learned a lot about reptiles and their important place in the world, and then it was time to gently handle some of the animals, including snakes! The Beavers and Cubs were extremely calm, interested and enjoyed this fun session.

The Beavers also made a start on their Health and Fitness badge, and Cubs finished off their Backwoods Cooking badge with more outdoor activities and tasty treats.

Scouts were hard at work with their Cycling badge, learning the practical and useful skills of bike maintenance as well as road safety. Then it was on to some top-secret gifts for Mother’s Day with a candle-making session, which included the interesting history of Victorian candle-making. Thankfully, the historical beef fat did not make its way into these gifts.

Elsewhere in the month, there was the opportunity to reflect on our core values and renew our Scout Promise for Founder’s Day (22 February). This marks the joint birthday of the founder of the Scout movement, Lord Robert Baden-Powell, and his wife, Olave Baden-Powell, who was the World Chief Guide.
