The Group had the opportunity to attend an air rifle shooting session at Frylands Scout Centre, with first-timer Brook getting a special mention from the rangemaster for his ‘phenomenal shooting’. The Young Leaders were amazed and tried their best to beat him!

Across the weekly activities, Scouts continued with their Pioneer Badge: making a catapult was on the agenda, complete with Square and Shear lashings. Later in the month, they were baking festive snowmen biscuits, practising food hygiene, cooking and creative decorating skills. This inspired some great fundraising ideas – would residents be brave enough to enter the ‘Great Woldingham Scouts Bake-off’ in 2026?

Cubs completed their First-Aid Badge, covering the importance of getting help and what to say when you call 999. Next up was the Digital Citizen Badge, including online actions and understanding the information you leave behind. All great skills to keep our young people safe online and out in the world, and help others to do so too.
Beavers had a fun-filled month with their Animal Carer Badge, meeting all sorts of animals, including a cat, dog, rabbit, guinea pigs and even a chicken! For the Pioneer Badge, it was time to learn how to strike a match safely and use a Trangia to make hot chocolate and cook sausages. Well done to the Beavers for being very sensible and caring in all their sessions.

On Remembrance Sunday, the Group took part in the parade to St Paul’s Church, to pay their respects and lay a wreath. Younger Beavers and Cubs took part in remembrance activities in the church while older Cubs and Scouts attended the service. They also enjoyed the Village Litter Pick, trying to spot pesky rubbish amongst all the leaf drop! We welcomed new members with their investitures, and it’s great to see our Group growing in numbers.
