1st Woldingham News
October was a quieter month of activities for the Scouts, Cubs and Beavers due to half-term, but there was still plenty to cram in now that the clocks have ‘fallen back’ and darker evenings are setting in earlier. Certainly, Woldingham and the surrounding areas look particularly special at this time of year, with the splendid autumnal colours really showing off.

Our Guy Fawkes models were completed early in October, ready for Bonfire Night. Cubs have now embarked on their Animal Carer badge, as well as making cookies this month, which is unsurprisingly always met with enthusiasm. The Beavers continued to work on their Builder Badge, painting their salt-dough models. Scouts were invited to take part in the District Wide Games at Caterham HQ, Parsons Pightle, and Scout Mattie and Young Leader Jack were there with their torches to represent Woldingham, racing between checkpoints in the night.

As we look ahead to November, our young people will participate in the village litter pick, taking pride in their surroundings and enjoying the challenge of collecting . . . the most purple Strongbow cans? (Which, unfortunately, seems to be a consistent presence!)
On Remembrance Sunday, the 1st Woldingham Scout Group will take part in the Remembrance Day Parade to St Paul’s Church, to pay their respects and lay a wreath. Thank you to the residents who make exceptional poppy tributes throughout the village, and enable our young people to feel connected to those who we remember.
We’ll soon be looking ahead to Christmas, and will be sharing the details of our Christmas fundraisers shortly – including a tempting, tasty offering!
