At the beginning of the summer term, Woldingham Scout Group reunited in the beautiful fields of Warren Barn Farm for another cross-country fun run. Feeling grateful for the dappled blue skies above, our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts gathered at the start line with feelings of excitement, anticipation and friendly competition in the air. The whistle blew and 1st Woldingham Scout Group were off, speeding across the fields towards the first marshall. This adventure not only provided our members with another excellent opportunity to stay active in the fresh air of our local countryside, but also served as a reminder that even when the going gets tough, perseverance and determination will eventually carry you over the finish line! Well done to everyone who took part!

A week later we gathered at yet another fantastic outdoor location, the mighty Harrison’s Rocks, for a day of climbing and bouldering. We often return to this location because not only is it a beautiful setting, but the activity itself provides our members with such a valuable and fun opportunity to challenge themselves. It is always a pleasure to see our young people conquer this lofty sandstone crag with such tremendous courage, determination and perseverance. Some members were new to climbing and scrambling whilst others had returned to attempt more difficult climbs. Well done everyone for rising to the challenge and reaching new heights!

On 11 May, 1st Woldingham Scout Group flung open the doors of Scout Hut HQ to host an open morning, giving non-members a taste of the exciting and varied programme of activities that are on offer! It was wonderful to welcome new faces to our Group and there were lots of activities to get involved in, such as tomahawk throwing, clay modelling, gardening and one of our favourite games – a tug of war! Puuull! Such a busy morning certainly gave us all an appetite for the delicious bacon butties that the Scouts cooked up for elevenses. Thank you to our volunteers who helped make the open morning such a success and of course thank you to everyone who attended to find out more about us.

I want the public to know how Scouting continues to open young people’s eyes to a world of extraordinary promise and possibilities.'
